Ethan turned 9 months old! Our bao boy is 2ft and 6in long and weighs in at almost 21 lbs. The doctor says he’s tall for his age hitting the 98th percentile. He loves a lot of orange veggies like sweet potato, carrots, and pumpkin. And he can’t get enough of green beans, spinach, and zucchini. Maybe he’s related to the Jolly Green Giant cause this tall boy sure loves his green vegetables.
He’s got 4 teeth with an additional 2 starting to bud (top front teeth). He looks like a baby vampire when he smiles because his lateral incisors came out first. But he’s very selective with who he smiles at. If you’re on the older side and you don’t smell like mommy’s shampoo, he might not like you…initially. If you’re not on his approved list of grown-ups, he will cry and squeal until he can find daddy or mommy.
As much as we were hopeful of keeping him device / screen-free for the first 3 years, we broke that rule this year. Ode to the lofty ideals of newbie parents. Little Baby Bum is our savior. Dave & Ava can keep him entranced for at least 30 mins. And Baby Shark? Currently one of the all-time favorites in our home. Ethan can’t get his diaper changed without knowing that mama shark, papa shark, and baby shark are swimming on a screen nearby.
Loves: He absolutely loves all of the remote controls in our house. You’ll find a pool of drool next to any remote in his eyesight. He loves playing with any and all of our grown-up electronics — keyboards, mice, phones, laptops. He loves when Jordan reads “Goodnight Moon”; he grabs all of the pages and enjoys the bold colors of the illustrations. He loves to stand and walk (assisted) around the playpen by holding on to the sides. He finds it extra funny to drop his pacifiers, toys, pillows, teethers over the playpen wall. Dropping things is his favorite pastime. And if you’re in the play pen with him? Watch out…he’ll try to climb on top of you and grapple you to the ground (in a baby fashion of course). Future UFC fighter?
He can wave ‘hello’ and gets a kick out of waving to himself in the mirror. He can stare at tags and labels for minutes at a time, fidgeting it around and twirling them around in his fingers. He loves those little things! He also babbles to himself. He babbles to warn you that he’s about to cry. He babbles even louder when mommy & daddy are talking and he’s not part of the conversation. He can’t NOT be part of the conversation.
Dislikes: bath time, long car rides (he gets motion sickness and throws up), air blowing directly at his face, loud people, super sweet flavors, juice, when we have our backs to him, not being part of the convo.
We can’t believe he’s already 9 months old. He’s turning into one hefty little boy…where has our little baby boy gone? ????????????????????????
