Just wanted to share a short tidbit of talent that I heard on a NPR FreshAir podcast.
It’s a sound byte of a backup singer named Merry Clayton who laid a track down for the Rolling Stones back in 1969. It’s from the song Gimme Shelter.
She’s 21 in this clip. Even as a backup singer, you can’t deny that this girl’s got power and presence. And what gets me is that I don’t think I’ve EVER EVER EVER had this much emotion and soul in any line or verse of anything I’ve ever sang in my entire life.
