I literally could not put my Nook down. I was hooked from the start. The Hunger Games is the perfect formula of drama, action, angst and true character. The author was really great at keeping a dynamic range between all the characters in the book…a little bit of everything but not overdone.
It’s truly a compelling story with good pacing. And the main character is a female…who I can totally relate to 🙂
The rights have already been bought by Lionsgate Films and is set for release in March 2012. Gary Ross was chosen to direct (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville); although my ideal director would be Guillermo del Toro of Pan’s Labyrinth. There needs to be a gritty rawness that I’m afraid Gary Ross might gloss over. I can only hope his adaptation is worthy of the epicness of this piece.
Anyway, so I’m on to the next book in the series, Catching Fire. I can already tell this volume will be 10x better. I had to pry myself away to just finish this post.
