Ethan absolutely loved the sugar star cookies that I made for him! He tries to pick off the morsels and eat them separately, and then he eats the edges of off the stars. It’s a great sugar cookie recipe that we’ll surely make over and over at the Luna house.
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 2/3 cups NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Unicorn Vanilla Morsels
PREHEAT oven to 375° F.
COMBINE baking powder, flour and salt in a small bowl. For extra light and delicate sugar cookies, sift your dry ingredients.
BEAT butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until well combined. Gradually beat in flour mixture.
CHILL dough for at least 30 minutes, then roll out to ¼ inch thick and use star cookie cutters to cut into desired shapes. Don’t forget to flour your surface to prevent sticking!
SPRINKLE vanilla morsels around cookie dough cut-outs. Decorate to your liking.
BAKE for 8 to 11 minutes. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Do not over beat the cookie dough. Think gentle thoughts. Do not over-bake. The moment the edges look remotely golden, take the cookies out of the oven and cool.
